Cody Cook Elected to Centre College Student Government Association

2012 Apr 2

Cody Cook of Louisville, a sophomore at Centre College, was elected to student judiciary of the College's Student Government Association (SGA) for the 2012-2013 academic year.

Centre's SGA represents students as their voice on academic, extracurricular, and social issues. The organization consists of an Executive Council of officers and committee chairs, a Student Senate that handles academic issues, and a House of Representatives that oversees all clubs and organizations on campus. Each class elects representatives, who serve on committees that deal with specific aspects of campus life and approve all club funding, establishment of new organizations, and other pieces of legislation.

Cook is the son of Deano and Michelle Cook of Louisville, and is a graduate of Pleasure Ridge Park High School.

Centre College, founded in 1819 and chosen to host its second Vice Presidential Debate in 2012, is ranked among the U.S. News top 50 national liberal arts colleges, at 42nd in the nation, and ranks 27th for best value among national liberal arts colleges. Forbes magazine ranks Centre 34th among all the nation's colleges and universities and has named Centre in the top five among all institutions of higher education in the South for three years in a row. Centre is also ranked fourth in the nation by U.S. News for its study abroad program.
